This is a modified low resolution copy of a photo appearing in the book "Philosophy as a Science" (1909) by Paul Carus. The original can be viewed here. The copyright status of this photo has expired because it was first published in the USA before 1923. The image is also claimed to be used under fair use because:
- This image is being used for identification of a deceased historic figure.
- It is the subject of an article written for nonprofit informational purposes.
- It is a low resolution B&W photo unlikely to be copied and used for commercial gain.
- The photo is only being used for informational purposes.
- Its inclusion adds significantly to the article because it shows the subject of this article.
- It is believed that the use of the image on Wikipedia will have no impact on the commercial value of the image or any other works it is currently used in.
