[edit] Blocking users

Whats are the rules about blocking an IP?►Chris NelsonHolla! 00:19, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

I make them. (Read: On a case to case basis. What's this case?) Pats1 T/C 00:20, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
The owner of gamerosters.com. He makes and sells named NCAA rosters. For two years now I've battled with this guy. I've explained to him the policies on spamming and he basically says he doesn't give a shit because he's running a business. Anyway, I had his gamerosters.com link blacklisted last year, and last week I had his new one fkrosters.com blacklisted. (He bought it out from a guy that used to make free rosters.) Now, it seems he's gotten a new link, ncaa09rosters.com, which re-directs to gamerosters.com. I'll get this blacklisted too, but this guy deserves a lifetime ban. I understand this may not be possible with an IP, but is there anything we can do?►Chris NelsonHolla! 00:25, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
I'm not familiar with the blacklisting process, but I'm sure there's an admin there who deals with this kind of stuff. I'd check with them and they'll probably do something. Pats1 T/C 00:46, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
(don't mind me, just saw this on my watchlist) I think the longest an IP can be blocked for is one year. But that's just me. RC-0722 361.0/1 00:55, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
There's an "other" field (as well as indefinite), but I've never tested to see if you can block for >1 year. Pats1 T/C 01:22, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Well I've talked to the admin who helped me last time with the blacklisting about getting this new link banned as well.►Chris NelsonHolla! 00:59, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Well I have no knowledge of blacklisting at all. But if the IP is harassing you and it relates to that blacklist, then I'd check out their procedure. Pats1 T/C 01:22, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
He's not harassing me on Wikipedia, he only does that via email or AIM. But he has been consistently spamming the NCAA Football articles for over a year now despite knowing the spam policies, so a block is definitely warranted. I'm not really looking for help with the blacklisting of the link as I've done that before, I'm just talking about the block.►Chris NelsonHolla! 01:24, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Invite

Hey, would you like to write for WikiPolitics: Political commentary from Wikipedia editors? RC-0722 361.0/1 14:57, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

No, I'd rather impale myself on a rusty pole. Pats1 T/C 18:55, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Your choice dude. RC-0722 361.0/1 22:45, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
I knew you'd get a response like this, hahaha!►Chris NelsonHolla! 06:43, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] NFLPA

Regarding your edit summary on the Colts' roster, did you mean that the NFLPA has a searchable database still? I thought that was gone.►Chris NelsonHolla! 00:45, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

You missed this on your own talk page? Pats1 T/C 01:18, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
