[edit] Problems wilth deletions

Pat - I really like the way the Rapid arnis page has evolved I think it is a very good example for other Eskrima pages. I also see you need help with the Pat O'Malley page and the BCEKEAI page. I have some comments but frankly the impression that the one gets is pure hard sell. I don't mean this in a wholly negative way - but you would be fighting a loosing battle.

Pat O'Mally page - wikipedia has a real problem with autobiographical pages and secondly your main claim to notability IS the founding of Rapid arnis. Yes you have accomplished things outside of Rapid arnis but Rapid arnis's notability has much to do with those accomplishments. It is a self-feeding circular argument. I would include a short paragraph in Rapid arnis detailing your personal history and let the other page die.

Secondly - there is a huge amount of detail - overwhelmingly so in both the pages your created. That goes back to the hard sell. Usual advice it to start small and let it grow. It a subject is notable it will. BCEKEAI is a newly created organization. That is another problem since it is very hard to tell what is info and what is advertisement. My advice is let it be for a few months and then try again. But start small and be sure to avoid copyright problems. Wikipedia is very clear - you copy from a web page (even your own) you are gone.

Finally - it is not personal. Wikipedia gets swamped by all sorts and tend to err on the side of brutallity. It means when in doubt - delete.

Any page you edit - please remember you don't have to tell everything and anything. Keep in concise. Please contact me on my talk page if you have any questions.Peter Rehse 06:19, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for the advise, I will do my best to sort it out, still trying to get the hang of editing and posting on this site.

No sweat - it does take a bit of time. I noticed some of your other edits and they are more than fine although a couple Doce Pares sections are definately going to get hit by the copyright bots. I'll do a fix here and there mainly for wiki form.Peter Rehse 09:50, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Dplogo md.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:Dplogo md.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Solent 07:08, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD Discussion

Hi. Regarding your comment in the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pat O'Malley martial artist, the most important requirement is to have reliable sources to back up the information in the article, and to make sure that the article satisfies the criteria for inclusion, which can be found at WP:BIO. Please take some time to have a read through those two guidelines, and if you can provide the relevant information, please do so as soon as possible.

In general, you should refrain from editing articles about yourself or your achievements (see WP:AUTO for the guidelines and reasons why) so it might be preferable for you to add further information on the article's talk page.

Regards, CiaranG 09:49, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Another option is to move the information to your user page. This was just done by User:Donald Munro who was facing the same problem you were.Peter Rehse 08:13, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding the eitd by automated bot

This was not a test edit but rather an inclusion of how people are ranked / graded within the system.Pat OMalley 13:39, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

I am guessing it took exception to the fact that the edit was entirely in capital letters, which is quite a common characteristic of vandalism. CiaranG 13:48, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
Ah, I see no problemPat OMalley 13:52, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Wekaflogo_md_2.jpg listed for deletion

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Wekaflogo_md_2.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 08:59, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:GB_Council_SMALL.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:GB_Council_SMALL.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:02, 8 April 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. User:Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr) 18:02, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
