The Oslo Class of Finnsmark starships was commissioned in March 2008, just after the first tests of warp-powered ships at Starbase 5. The pathfinder of the class, the FSS Oslo, was launched under command of Captain Vazmarken on January 8, 2009. It saw action in the First Renegade Russian War. Afterwards, the Oslo had a refit in Finnsmark Spacedock. Meanwhile, the second ship of the Oslo Class, the FSS Venera, was being constructed at the newly built Alpha Centauri spacedock.

The two ships battled Dicerotians in the Dicerotian First Offensive, and in the Second Renegade Russian War. As of 2013, no new Oslo Class ships have been constructed.
