Required citations

The citations required by 82.28.45.16 in today's edits are as follows:

a. Extract of letter dated July 19, 2002 from Ivan Henderson MP:

"Dear Mr Haseldine, Thank you for your letter dated 27th June regarding your request for reinstatement, which I have raised with the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs on your behalf. I have now received the enclosed letter from the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, which is self-explanatory."

b. Extract of letter dated July 15, 2002 from Baroness Amos to Ivan Henderson:

"Dear Ivan, Thank you for your letter of 28 June to Jack Straw enclosing another letter from your constituent, Mr Patrick Haseldine. I am replying as Minister responsible for personnel matters.
As I said in my letter of 27 July last year, Mr Haseldine was dismissed from the Diplomatic Service in 1989. Since then he has written on a number of occasions to Ministers and officials at the FCO seeking reinstatement and compensation. It has been made clear to him that there is no prospect of reinstatement.
Yours ever, Valerie."

c. See the article's section Congratulating New Labour for the first part of Robin Cook's letter dated May 16, 1997. Here is the full text:

"Dear Mr Haseldine,
Reinstatement in HM Diplomatic Service
Thank you for your letter of 5 May.
It is now a decade since your dismissal. At the time you exhausted the agreed appeals procedure, but all members of the Appeal Board, including staff and independent members, concurred that your dismissal was appropriate. In the circumstances I do not believe it would be right for me now to overturn their conclusion. There is no prospect of your reinstatement.
At the time of your dismissal, you were informed of your entitlement to a preserved pension and preserved lump sum, both payable on your sixtieth birthday. This remains the position. I have asked my officials in the FCO Superannuation Section to write to you shortly to let you know the current value of your preserved benefits.
Yours sincerely, Robin Cook."

d. Extract from FCO letter dated May 21, 1997:

"Dear Mr Haseldine, I have been asked to let you know the latest position on your preserved pension benefits.
Following your departure from the Service you were assigned a preserved pension and lump sum. The current value (as of April 1, 1977) is £4,822.32 per annum.
Yours sincerely, Superannuation Section."

e. Text of email dated May 22, 2006 to Douglas Carswell MP:

"Dear Mr Carswell,
Having unsuccessfully appealed against my dismissal in 1989 to foreign secretary Sir Geoffrey Howe, I proceeded to seek reinstatement in HM Diplomatic Service from each of Howe's successors: John Major, Douglas Hurd, Malcolm Rifkind, Robin Cook and Jack Straw. All rejected my reinstatement request but Robin Cook wrote on May 16, 1997:
'At the time of your dismissal, you were informed of your entitlement to a preserved pension and preserved lump sum, both payable on your sixtieth birthday. This remains the position. I have asked my officials in the FCO Superannuation Section to write to you shortly to let you know the current value of your preserved benefits.'
A week later, I was informed that on July 11, 2002 I would qualify for a pension – based on 18 years service – of 25 per cent of my final year (1989) salary, equivalent to about £5,000 per year. Because I am finding it increasingly difficult to manage on this small sum, I should be grateful if you would apply on my behalf to the new foreign secretary, Margaret Beckett, for an enhanced pension and ex gratia compensation to be paid to me.
The full background and justification for my request is at [1].
Please acknowledge receipt.
Yours sincerely, Patrick Haseldine."86.141.216.51 15:55, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Autobiography?

Where are the letters? Or is this original research which is not allowed? Perchance you are Patrick Haseldine engaged on an autobiography? 82.28.45.16 09:18, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
By my calculations, there have been 34 different editors since this article was inaugurated: it is difficult to see how the article can therefore be an autobiography. The above citations by anon IP 86.141.216.51 were presumably provided because anon IP 82.28.45.16 asked for them.Phase4 11:52, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
