[edit] Early life and career
She is the youngest child of six siblings. Her parents, Santiago and Alejandrina Solis, were immigrants from Monterrey, Mexico. She grew up in the Chicago area, attending the Notre Dame High School for Girls and Northwestern University. Her oldest brother, Daniel Solis, is Chicago alderman for the 25th ward.[1][2]
Doyle entered politics working on Richard M. Daley's campaign for Mayor of Chicago. Later she went with David Wilhelm (Bill Clinton's campaign manager) from Chicago to Little Rock, where she became Hillary Rodham Clinton's assistant. She is credited with coining the term "Hillaryland", the close circle of Clinton advisers, dating back to 1992.[3]
She is executive director of HillPac and ran Clinton's campaign for the United States Senate in 2000 and her 2006 re-election campaign.
[edit] Hillary Clinton presidential campaign
Appointing Solis Doyle as her Presidential campaign manager, Clinton said "I have complete confidence and trust in her as a person and as a professional. She was the natural choice for me when it came to picking someone to run this campaign". Solis Doyle was the first Hispanic woman to manage a presidential campaign.[4][5]
Although she retains the position of senior adviser to the campaign, her removal from the top position is reported to have been acrimonious and some inside the Clinton camp have accused Solis Doyle of managing the campaign "into a ditch".[6] Doyle was replaced by Maggie Williams.[1] It has been reported that Senator Clinton and Solis Doyle have not spoken since.[2]
[edit] Personal life
She is married to Jim Doyle, a Harvard Law School graduate. They have two children.
