At 7:50 AM the Palestinian suicide bomber got onto the Egged line 32A bus, which came from the Gilo neighborhood and stopped in Beit Safafa, a neighborhood of Jerusalem which is populated mostly by Arabs. The bomber went into the bus and exploded himself in the front. His explosive belt included metal balls for shrapnel in order to maximize casualties. [1] Palestinian Islamist group Hamas claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack. The suicide bomber was identified as Muhamed al-Ral, an Islamic law student at An-Najah National University in Nablus, a known Hamas stronghold.
