Patriotism (憂国 Yûkoku ?) is a 1966 Japanese short drama film directed by Domoto Masaki and Yukio Mishima. Mishima wrote Yûkoku four years before his death. The book reflected many of Mishima's war like instincts as the book follows the story of a Japanese arm lieutenant and his wife, Yukio and Yoko. His fascination with death and the samurai also come into the book when the lieutenant commits Hara-Kiri, the Japanese ritual suicide. The book also was a tribute to the emperor and the Ni Ni Roku incident. Intervening his love of political matters and death/violence with his stories became a love of his and Patriotism is an example of this.
Patronism opened in Japanese theatres in 1966, the same year he wrote it.
