[edit] Life
Patrick Jonathan is a composer born in London, England, but currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A former student of Stanley Glasser, Edward Gregson and Don B. Ray, he cites the great English symphonist Richard Arnell as his mentor, and a major influence on his creative life.
While still a student, Patrick Jonathan provided more than a dozen scores for films produced by students at the London International Film School under the guidance of Arnell, who headed the music department at that institution.
Having pursued careers in music publishing and teaching, Patrick Jonathan maintained a career as a composer of pop, jazz, jingle, theatre and children's music. He was nominated for a prestigious Boh/Cameronian Award for his 2004 score to the play 'Little Violet and the Angel', by Philip Osment.
For the last few years, Patrick Jonathan's creative efforts have been focussed on producing serious works for the concert platform. His large-scale Symphony No 2, 'DEBS' was premiered to great acclaim by Warren Cohen and the Musica Nova Orchestra in Scottsdale, Arizona in January 2007.
