Patrick Clarke (born October 26,1965) is an award-winning Irish filmmaker and actor.
Dublin-born Patrick Clarke’s career in film began in 1994 when he took up acting studies at David Mamet's Atlantic Theater Company in New York City. During that period Clarke kept himself busy by appearing in more than a dozen student and independent short films including The Last Actor and Fall from Grace.
Inspired by New York’s independent film culture, Clarke wrote and produced his first feature, Beyond the Pale (1999), which was a modest commercial success in Ireland, Australia and the UK and won awards at the Houston and Arizona film festivals (2000). Clarke’s performance in Beyond the Pale led to roles in The Magnificent Ambersons (2002) for NBC and the comedy Stay Until Tomorrow (2004) which was developed through the Sundance Institute.
In July of 2006 Clarke began work on the feature length thriller Anton. The film, which stars Gerard McSorley, is set in 1970’s Cavan, Dublin and Paris. Expected release date March 17, 2008. On December 9, 2007, Clarke filmed the music video for the theme song entitled 'One' for 'Anton', with notable performers John Illsley (Dire Straits) and Paul Brady.
Clarke also starred in the Irish feature Shattered (2007) and the feature length documentary The Extra Mile (2007).
