Patrick is a male name derived from either the Latin name Patricius (patrician, i.e. nobleman) or from an earlier Celtic name.[1] It was Gaelicised as Padraic or Padraig, and owing to the importance of Saint Patrick in Irish history, it is an especially popular name in Ireland. In addition, the name was derived from the Gaelic name "Paidric" which literally meant "power".
