[edit] Synopsis

The story as tells the story of the Last Day of Erwin Rommel's (Brian Jackson) life. Rommel who is regarded as one of the greatest military minds of his time, and earned himself the nickname 'The Desert Fox' by his allied foes, is brought down by the political insecurities of Adolf Hitler, the dictator whose need to satisfy the ambition of giving Germany 'More Breathing Room' would damage a country beyond belief.

The film starts on the 14th October 1944, as Rommel is accused of being involved in the July 1944 Bomb Plot to assassinate the fuehrer, to that end General Burgdorf (Charles Delaney) and General Maisel (Andreas Neumann) are dispatched to his home in Herrlingen to inform him of a decision which has been made by the German High Command, in reality the SS. His options are clear, take the Poison and accept guilt, the world would be told he died of his injuries or fight his case in the Volksgerichtshof, where a guilty verdict had already been decided for him and his family.

The film attempts to show in its short length Rommel's anguish; he does not want to surrender but does not want to put his family in danger.
