Patricia Elizabeth Gras (born August 12, 1960) is a television anchor and senior producer working for the Public Broadcasting Service in Houston, Texas, Channel 8. Currently she is the senior producer and anchor of Houston’s local talk show Living Smart with Patricia Gras, [1] which airs nationally in 36 PBS markets. [2]She is also a musician and songwriter.

Patricia Gras was born in Houston, Texas on August 12, 1960, of Argentinian parents, Hector Gras, an anesthesiologist, and Salome Gras, a biochemist. In 1962, they moved back to Mendoza, Argentina, where she grew up. In 1972, Patricia moved back to the United States with her parents. Resettled in Houston, she attended St. Agnes Academy in 1979 and went on to get a Bachelor's degree at Texas A&M University. Patricia received her first master degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. She also received two other master degrees, the first from the ESADE in Barcelona, Spain and later in 1990 she received her Master of Journalism from Columbia University in New York City. While in Spain Patricia learned yet another language, Catalan, making her fifth spoken language besides Spanish, English, French, and Italian. Before completely pursuing a career in television journalism she worked as a marketing executive for Ralston Purina in Spain and with Duquesne Purina in Paris as a market researcher. In 1987 she returned to Houston, and decided to change careers. Her first job in television was with Telemundo's Channel 48, which produced the first newscast in Spanish. And later in the early nineties after graduation from Columbia University she began working for Houston Public Television

She has been the recipient of over 140 journalism awards including five Regional Emmy Awards.[3]

In 1994 Patricia Gras formed a Latin and international band, Barandua, where she was the lead singer and percussionist. Barandua produced two albums, Barandua Live and Barandua Our Songs which featured original songs by the band members.[4] In 2004, Patricia formed a new band, Los Quartus. The band produced an album, which features the song for the television series "Living Smart with Patricia Gras."[5]
