Patric Laurence Dickinson

Patric Laurence Dickinson, LVO, MA (Oxford) is Her Majesty's Richmond Herald of Arms in Ordinary. He was born in 1950 and educated at Marling School in Stroud, Gloucestershire before attending the University of Oxford. He was president of the Oxford Union Society and was called to the bar at Middle Temple. Dickinson served as a research assistant at the College of Arms in 1968 until his appointment as Rouge Dragon Pursuivant of Arms in Ordinary in 1978. He was promoted to Richmond Herald in 1989. In 2004 Dickinson was named Secretary of the Order of the Garter, succeeding Hubert Chesshyre, Clarenceux King of Arms. He is also the Chairman of the Anthony Powell Society.
