Patric Åkesson (b. November, 1985) is a Swedish badminton player whol currently resides in his birthcity of Varberg. Playing since an early age of his life, Patric has been one of the brightest stars in the Halland district with several district titles.

[edit] Season 05/06

Åkesson returns to top badminton after a years absence from the scene. He directly claims a spot in the star studded Varberg Team and plays a vital role in the clubs quest for promotion to the first division.

  • In November he becomes senior champion in Halland district for the first time.

He also claims the doubles title with long time partner Erik Lindskog.

The season ended in disappointment for Åkesson and his team when they failed to reach Division 1 for the second consecutive year, earlier in the season local newspaper Hallandsnyheter published comments from team Captain H Ronnlius which blamed certain players for the failure. Mr. Ronnlius said that some of his players failed to perform their given tasks.

Åkesson is expected to continue playing for Varberg.

Åkesson's absence from Badminton is causing his native club Varberg to call up rookies Erik Lindskog and Daniel Andersson to the first team, Varberg finishes second in the league.

Åkesson in his last junior year is making a big inpact on the SGPU Tour with great results earning him recognition amongst the best. After this year Åkesson decides to take a break from Badminton.
