Patients Not Patents is a patient advocacy group whose primary activity is challenging the validity of medical patents before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Its founder and Executive Director is Jeffrey Light.
On December 23, 2005, Patients not Patents filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of LabCorp v. Metabolite, Inc.
Jeffrey Light holds a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and Master’s and Bachelor’s of Science degrees from Brandeis University in Biochemistry. He is licensed as a Registered Attorney by the United States Patent and Trademark Office and licensed to practice law in Washington, DC.
