The village of Patibandla is in PedakurapaduMandal, situated towards north-west of Guntur, in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Patibanda is a big village consisting of about 6,000 inhabitants of whom 3000 are Roman Catholics. The great famine of 1832 and the political disturbances drove some of the catholic families north from the districts of Chingleput, Chittoor and parts of Nellore and Kurnool. Their main occupation is cultivation. The faith of these simple Christians is so deep that a good number of boys and girls dedicated themselves to the service of the Lord and the Church. About 31 priests and 130 nuns hail from Patibanda. Most Rev. Gali bali, the present bishop of Guntur hails from this village.
