Patalkot [1] (Sanskrit for "very deep") is a tourist site in the Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh, India. Located in a valley, the site is said to look like a horseshoe from above. Traditionally, the site is believed to be the entrance to Patal. Another common belief is that Meghnath, after worshiping Shiva, went to Patal-lok through this site. As mentioned by Dr Deepak Acharya in an article "Wisdom from the Heart of India" published in ECOS MAGAZINE, Australia, Patalkot is home to a tribal culture and custom. The valley is such a beautiful place now facing threats of deforestation.
