Pat Purcell is an Australian politician, currently representing the electoral district of Bulimba for the Australian Labor Party in the Parliament of Queensland.
Prior to election to parliament he was the secretary of the Australian Building Construction Employees' and Builders Labourers' Federation (Queensland Branch).
Purcell was appointed Minister for Emergency Services on 28 July 2005, and was previously the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Public Works, Housing and Racing.[1]
Purcell announced he would resign from the Ministry on 4 July 2007, although he will continue as the Member for Bulimba.[2] This came after he finally admitted to having assaulted two public servants in his office after previously claiming he merely gave them a "verbal bollocking... [he wouldn't] go around belting people. I would be more inclined to give someone a hug than anything else."[3]
