W. H. "Pat" Lindsey is a Democratic member of the Alabama Senate, representing the 22nd District since 1982.

Lindsey first won election to the Alabama Senate in 1966. He served eight years, being reelected in 1970. He then retired from politics for more than a decade. He returned to the political arena in 1990, defeating incumbent Rick Manley.

Senator Lindsey survived a fierce re-election challenge from Republican John McMillan in 2006. The campaign featured allegations that Lindsey was in fact a convicted felon and ineligible to run for election under Alabama law. These allegations were never refuted; however, as Attorney General Troy King and other law enforcement authorities failed to pursue the allegations, the truth of the matter has yet to be determined.

Lindsey's family has been prominent in the area for generations. After earning a degree in geology at the University of Alabama, Lindsey attended law achool there and became a practicing attorney. Lindsey has been married twice with both marriages ending in divorce. He is the father of two children.
