'Pat Caputo is a sports columnist for the Oakland Press and an on-air host for radio station 97.1 FM, The Ticket, WXYT in Detroit. Nicknamed The Book for his extensive knowledge of sports, Caputo hosts a radio show, "Caputo and Fithian" with Dennis Fithian. He appears regularly on the WJBK (FOX 2 in Detroit television show SportsWorks).

He was raised in Birmingham, Michigan after moving there at the age of 9. He attended Wylie Groves High School where he played football and baseball.

He covered the Tigers from 1986-1998 and the Lions from 1998-2002 for The Oakland Press before becoming a columnist.

In 1986, Caputo became a regular contributor to the Tigers round table segment on WDIV. He hosted a segment on the Tigers pregame show from 1990-1992 on PASS Sports, known as Caputo’s Corner.

He began hosting The Book on Sports on WXYT in 2001, when the station switched to an all-sports format. Previously he was a host for WDFN from 1996-2001.

Caputo has been named the top sports columnist in Michigan by the Michigan Associated Press and the Michigan Press Association, and the top columnist in area by the Detroit Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. He has been named among the Top Ten sports columnists in the nation by the Associated Press Sports Editors.
