Pat Calathes is a former small forward for the Saint Joseph's Hawks who helped lead the Hawks to the 2008 NCAA Tournament and the 2008 Atlantic 10 title game. Calathes ranks 27th all-time on Saint Joseph's University's points list with 1,251. He also is 22nd with 630 rebounds. He is one of 26 players in school history to score 1,000 points and have 500 rebounds.
DraftExpress.com projects that he will be drafted with the 14th pick in the 2nd round of the 2008 NBA Draft.[1]
[edit] College
Calathes began college as a wiry 5'11 point guard but would grow to 6'10 by his senior year. Until his junior year, he served primarily as a backup player. As a junior, he averaged 13.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.[2] As a senior, he teamed up with center Ahmad Nivins to lead the Hawks to their first NCAA Tournament since 2008. SJU would lose to the University of Oklahoma.
[edit] NBA
Many mock drafts including DraftExpress.com have included Calathes in their mock drafts from as high as low in the first round to low in the second round. Because of his unique combination of height and 3-point shooting ability, Calathes has intrigued a number of teams.
