Looks like they're going to a cable-stayed design. Does it say anywhere that they are indeed modifying the original Paseo Bridge, or are they demolishing it and rebuilding? Seems like it would be difficult to modify the existing bridge... —Scott5114 22:20, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Per press relase posted just the other day the existing Paseo Bridge will be torn down and the new Christopher S. Bond Bridge will be open downstream next to it. Sawblade05 (talk to me | my wiki life) 02:05, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

I completely agreee with your statement Scott, however at this time I havent seen anything that shows it will be demolished while they build the other. i'm extremely curious how these engineers will build the new bridge with thisone in place, and the bridge stay open. On the T.V. briadcasts the engineers took great pride in the fact that it will remain open the whole time. i'll keep my eyes peeled. Also, is the name of the bridge changing from the Paseo to the Chris S. Bond bridge? Dosen't make sense to announce lane closures on the present bridge if the new paseo will be built adjacent to it.Kcuello (talk) 15:56, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

In any case, we need to get a photo of the bridge in its current configuration soon. —Scott5114 18:14, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
