Pasquotank County High School

Pasquotank County High School is a school in Elizabeth City in Northeastern North Carolina, USA. PCHS's mascot is the Panther. Its school colors are navy blue and silver. It is one of two high schools in Pasquotank County; the other (sometimes considered a rival) is Northeastern High School. PCHS was established in 2000 to relieve the population of Northeastern High; however, all members of the senior class of 2001 remained at Northeastern, making the class of 2002 the first graduating class of Pasquotank County High.

[edit] Patti Hamler
Patti Hamler was the principal for the years of 2001-2007. She relocated to Chesapeake, Virginia to take on a more challenging role as prinicpal of a high school there.

The principal for the 1st semester of the 2007-2008 School year was Cynthia Morris. She replaces PCHS' first principal, Patti Hamler, who left in September 2007.

The current principal for the remaining semester of the 2007-2008 School. She will be the acting principal for a few school terms.
[edit] Teacher-Student Affair
Charles Whedbee, 41, of Elizabeth City, North Carolina was charged Wednesday afternoon with three counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor, according to an arrest report from the Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office. Whedbee was being confined at Albemarle District Jail Wednesday in lieu of a $30,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in district court Thursday, according to an arrest report. Whedbee's arrest comes two weeks after the sheriff's office began investigating allegations of an improper relationship between a teacher and a student at Pasquotank County High School, where Whedbee taught social studies. In a statement released Wednesday, Superintendent of Schools Tony Stewart said Whedbee's employment with the school district had been terminated earlier this week.

The school offers the clubs: Future Business Leaders of America, Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, Future Farmers of America, National Honors Society, and many more school clubs.

The school is in a complex with two other schools, the new ECMS (Elizabeth City Middle School) building, and Northside Elementary School.

The school, like most other high schools, run on a Four Block schedule, with three lunches.
