Pashai are a Dardic ethno-linguistic group living primarily in eastern and northeastern Afghanistan. Other Pashai communities are found over the border in neighbooring Pakistan in the Chitral district. They are mainly concentrated in Kohistan of Kabul, Laghman, and northern Kunar. They are descendants of ancient inhabitants of the region.[1]
The Northern Alliance commander Hazrat Ali, is a Pashai.
