- Well, no prob... But one user have a problem and it is still the same user. :)
- I think, I am the newest member and maybe I do not know the conventions and rules. So the Gymnastics at the 1920 Summer Olympics page is reverted back back - it seems to be a long way for the Danish gymnasts. ;) Doma-w 01:25, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

- I see. The links you put as references are to the main pages, but if you want your name changes to be supported you have to put direct links to the pages where the names are stated. That's probably what the guy who reverted was demanding. Parutakupiu talk || contribs 03:11, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

- Wow. Yeah, that's very specific, indeed :) The thing is: those more detailed references should be on the article page, not the talk page, because people read the article to get the info, not the talk page. Try to add those references to each gymnast name by using footnotes (<ref> system), so it doesn't clutter up the tables. Parutakupiu talk || contribs 17:04, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

- Only for ONE user? How does not accept Danish language?? Or does not accept full names?? Only one user wants to keep a copy from the IOC database?? And he only wants to keep this on this ONLY page?? Well... Puhh... Doma-w 17:26, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

- Yeah, it's stupid, I know. It would suffice to edit the name and the link to the gymnast's article (if it exists) would have that reference, because it's really idiotic to have a reference for every name :S Perhaps you could discuss with him this issue... - Well, I have already written on his talk page and I am waiting for his answer. To add a footnote is a good idea, but to explain every Ø?? No, there is no sense. There is no other Olympic page, which explains every Ø for a Danish athlete and there are a lot! :) Doma-w 17:49, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

- Perhaps it's better to leave this article on stadnby, until you get an answer, and then you can continue without any further impediments. At that time, ask me and I'll revert the page for you. Parutakupiu talk || contribs 18:14, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

- I had a look at your sandbox and I have found an election result for 1940. Also I can offer the exact results for 1956/1960/1972. Are you interested? Doma-w 16:29, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

-
- Well, you're not gonna be stuck just because of one user. I'll revert the page and you add the necessary references. As for the results, I'm interested on 1940! I haven't found those results anywhere, so it would be nice of you. The other years I know the results but I was trying to confirm some references (which I did already). Please, give me also the sources.
-
-
-
- Thanks a lot for the revert! I will try to do my best... :)
- My source is the book "Who's who at the Olympics" by Erich Kamper/Bill Mallon (1992). There I have found:
-
- 1904: There is given a vote to move the games from Chicago to St. Louis 2-14
- 1936: There are also given as candidate cities: Alexandria, Buenos Aires, Cologne, Dublin, Frankfurt/Main, Helsinki, Lausanne, Nuremberg, Rio de Janeiro
- 1940: Also given as candidate cities: Athens, Lausanne, and Toronto; but a result is only given for Tokyo-Helsinki 36-27
- 1944 also showns Helsinki as candidate city
- 1948 showns London, Balitmore, Lausanne, Los Angeles, Minnepolis and Philadelphia, but NOT Athens and Budapest? :)
- 1956 showns also an election for the equestrian games
- Have fun! Doma-w 21:16, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

- I have added a footnote on "painful" Gymnastics at the 1920 Summer Olympics. I hope this is enough and saves also the clarity of the page. So everyone, who is interested, can read why and what happend. Doma-w 22:05, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
-
-
-
-
- There. I took some time to try to fix properly the whole thing. You couldn't direct readers to the talk page; everything that is put on the article must be referenced in the article space. I put the link to the 1920 Gymnastics as the general reference for those names that don't appear on the IOC and I've also put a direct link to the IOC Danish team list for comparision purpose ;) I hope this is cleared now!

- By the way, why do you think that databaseOlympics.com is more reliable than an IOC database? Parutakupiu talk || contribs 22:28, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

-
- Thanks for your help with the footnote!
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- Oh, no! I do not prefer databaseOlympics or any other webpage, because on a webpage you can never be sure, most of them shown only copies from other webpages... I prefer books. Wasner, Mező, Kamper, Mallon and other have done really a great work. (By the way, I am really pondering to start an article about Kamper.) The web I mainly use to find out the correct spelling of a name, because I think a native speaker will not misspell a name? E.g. For me Nuremberg is ever Nürnberg. With ü an nothing else. :) Doma-w 22:52, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
-
-
-
- Pondering why you asked me, if I prefer dataOlympics, I once more changed the footnote to clarify. The only reason why I add to all my created pages an link to databaseOlympics is, because this is the easiest way to add a ref. :) Doma-w 10:00, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

So this is what you've been working on...!
I saw your name in the history of some article I was perusing and thought to myself that you haven't been editing anything that I knew of lately, so I browsed your edit history to find this wonderful list of bids, which also led me to Bids for Olympic Games which you started to work on. It's very nice (and well referenced, for that matter!). Good work!
Anyway, I just wanted to say good job. └Jared┘┌talk┐ 17:26, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yep. That is the reason of my current "idle" state ;) And I still need to redo and reference the Winter bids, so I have a long way to go still. I'm doing this so I can fuse Bids for Olympic Games with Bids for Olympic Games (ballots). I hope I can turn it FL in a near future.
- Thanks, Jared! Parutakupiu talk || contribs 18:26, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
Image:Fernanda_ribeiro.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Fernanda_ribeiro.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu badali (talk) 18:52, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Sergio_paulinho_podium04.jpg
I have tagged Image:Sergio_paulinho_podium04.jpg as {{replaceable fair use}}. If you wish to dispute this assertion, please add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}} to the image description page and a comment explaining your reasoning to the the image talk page. Abu badali (talk) 18:55, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Unspecified source for Image:Sergio_paulinho_podium04.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Sergio_paulinho_podium04.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:56, 7 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu badali (talk) 18:56, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

I just want to tell you, that I really like your Olympic pictograms! And I use them as often as possible. So I will put them on top of every Olympic page, when I do some edits there (see 1912/1920)! Great work! ;) Doma-w 23:05, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Infobox Templates
Hey, I was wondering if you could possibly help me out some. I'm looking to make an infobox template for the Games of the Small States of Europe along the lines of the Olympics infobox template. I'm terrible at coding, though, so I was wondering if you had any advice of which sections to start from using that as a basis. Thanks! matt91486 01:54, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- I've looked over the code, and I think the part that's throwing me off is the beginning with the formulas for calculating the years. I'm not sure which parts of it are essential to the infobox and which parts are in the calculation. matt91486 15:51, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

GSSE
I hate to bother you about the GSSE infobox again since you've been such a big help with it already, but I've run into a minor difficulty with the template I don't know how to fix. The country code for Malta is incorrect; it's listed as MAL, but I believe it is supposed to be MLT, so it shows up funny on when Malta hosts the games. I looked at the template, but I have no idea where the information is stored in it because it is so intricate, so I was wondering if you would be able to swap out the country code sometime when you have a chance. Thanks so much! matt91486 04:26, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Lara♥Love 16:11, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
