[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Axl.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Axl.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rory096 21:42, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:PillmanDVD.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:PillmanDVD.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:XPWKingofDeathmatch.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:XPWKingofDeathmatch.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] XPW

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent contribution removed maintenance notices from an article, even though required changes haven't been made. If you are uncertain whether the page requires further work, or if you disagree with the notice, please discuss these issues on the page's talk page before removing the notice from the page. These notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of a page. Thank you. One Night In Hackney303 08:35, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Repost of Steve Rizzono

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Steve Rizzono, by Biggspowd, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Steve Rizzono was previously deleted as a result of an articles for deletion (or another XfD)

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Steve Rizzono, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Steve Rizzono itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 01:32, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] UWA Hardcore Wrestling

(Repost from it's talk page in case you miss it) The fact that other articles exist with less notability isn't an argument - otherwise we'd have to have a vote to find out the LEAST notable article on Wiki, delete that and then work our way up the ladder. This article, this promotion's notability is in question - as for arguments against the notability policy, take it up with Wikipedia since they're the ones that set down WP:N you know. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and wait say a week to see if you can add any sources that prove notability before I put it up for AFD MPJ-DK 04:45, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Fuchi2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Fuchi2.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Your image uploads

There have been problems with your recent uploads (see your log here). Here is the quick version to avoid drowning you with information:

  • Images you find on websites are not yours. Unless the website clearly indicates that the images have been released under the GFDL (a free content license), then they are going to be fair use - particularly if they have a copyright notice at the bottom like that sportsnavi website does. Do not tag these with {{GFDL}}, instead use a fair use tag (like {{fair use}}) that indicated the images are copyrighted.
  • Screenshots of DVDs and such are fair use regardless of whether you own the DVD or if it was you that took the screenshot.
  • Fair use images that you upload (i.e. practically all your uploads) need a fair use rationale explaining why a free content encyclopedia needs this copyrighted work. A fair use rationale should explain how the image meets all the criteria on WP:NFCC.
  • Of particular relevance to your uploads is criterion #1. We avoid using copyrighted works when a free image can be created. It is possible, for example, to obtain a free image of a living person in a way that can't be done for someone long dead. Free images of professional performers can easily be found or created since they appear in front of large crowds on a regular basis. Those of your uploaded images which are replaceable fair use have already been deleted.

Thanks. – Steel 13:07, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

The four images you uploaded yesterday failed that last point. – Steel 11:00, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Dynamite.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Dynamite.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 22:14, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:IGF.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:IGF.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 21:20, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] DC Meetup notice

Greetings. There is going to be a Washington DC Wikipedia meetup on next Saturday, July 21st at 5pm in DC. Since you are listed in Category:Wikipedians_in_Maryland, I thought I'd invite you to come. I'm sorry about the short notice for the meeting. Hopefully we'll do somewhat better in that regard next time. If you can't come but want to make sure that you are informed of future meetings be sure to list yourself under "but let me know about future events", and if you don't want to get any future direct notices \(like this one\), you can list yourself under "I'm not interested in attending any others either" on the DC meetup page.--Gmaxwell 00:27, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AJPW Triple Crown Championship

Two things:

  • Why did you replace the infobox with an image? If anything just put it in the infobox.
Because the image won't fit in the infobox properly, and when it is included in the infobox, the width of the page becomes unnecessary.
  • Why did you change the size of the table like that?
the table looks fine.

MarcK 03:42, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

The table design I had used better conforms to the WP:PW style guide, not to mention the WWE featured lists and just about every other decent title list on Wikipedia. I've changed it back for this reason, and added the image to the infobox without any overlap. --MarcK 03:26, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your userpage

I have deleted sections of your userpage where you have advertised copyright material for trade/copy. Apart from being dubiously legal, it's not what Wikipedia is about. Please read WP:NOT#WEBSPACE and WP:USER to understand why this is inappropriate. Thanks - Alison 01:19, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

  • re. "I'd appreciate it if certain users would keep their paws off something that's none of their business", note that using Wikipedia to break the law is very much my concern. Do it again and I shall delete and protect your userpage. Third time's the charm - Alison 01:29, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] IWGP World Heavyweight Championship

Some problems I have with your edits:

  • Most of the things in the Statistics section are already in the infobox. Why is this method more convenient?
  • All the rest is trivia; knowing who's won both this title and some other one is very crufty.
  • Angle should not be noted anywhere in this article. What happens in IGF or TNA is completely irrelevant to this page after Brock Lesnar.

I agree that the history section was not really necessary since there's not much to tell, but I think the infobox is far superior to a trivia/statistics/whatever section. I'd like to hear your side of things before we revert eachother another ten times. --MarcK 18:46, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

    • I have no issue with the omission of Kurt Angle's name from the article; my side of it was to clarify to those unbeknownst that Kurt Angle is not linked to the championship, contrary to what TNA and IGF claims. However, I must challenge your dictation of what's trivia and what's statistical, because how are the notations of who the heaviest champion was and who had the shortest reign more statistical than the select few who were able to achieve multiple title reigns? I feel that, apart from the Angle mention, my edit is perfectly fine; the only thing I feel that the page needs is a shot of the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, because it'll occupy the position that the infobox is in, and I can find a fair-use image of the title a.s.a.p. —Parsonsburg 02:44:23, August 19, 2007 (UTC)
      • The fact is that infoboxes are generally preferred over bullet lists, and the contents of the infobox were deeply discussed when it was introduced, so there's consensus on what should and shouldn't be included. And besides, I still don't see how a list could possibly be better than an infobox. --MarcK 15:41, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use disputed for Image:WSXtra.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:WSXtra.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:26, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Alljapanprowrestlinglogo.jpg

Image:Alljapanprowrestlinglogo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

From the Editor

Welcome to the inaugural edition of the WikiProject Professional wrestling newsletter! I hope this will be a good source of news to those people interested in what's happening around our pro wrestlimg community. I plan to release it every Sunday.

This newsletter will just be a way to get the community announcements to people who don't have the time to check the mesageboards, as well that to those just curious about the news. The newsleter will consist of a project news section (to do with what's happening on Wikipedia), and a current events section (relating to news in the "real world"). The newslette will also contain the Collaboration of the Week announcement.

That's all. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please post them at this talk page.

If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --[%5

[edit] Little context in BattlARTS

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on BattlARTS, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because BattlARTS is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting BattlARTS, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself.
