I have deleted a userbox template you recently created, as userboxes should no longer be created in templatespace per the terms of the German userbox solution. Here is the userbox code so that you can recreate the userbox in your userspace ("userfying") if you wish.

[edit] Film titles
Hi, noticed your edit on Seven Samurai and others to give them their 'real' titles, i.e. in Japanese. Unfortunately I don't have the appropriate Kanji plugins or whatever I need to see these characters, so I only see lots of ???? in their place. (using Firefox, Win XP). I expect I'm not the only one. As this is the English Wikipedia, shouldn't the titles be left in English? I've started a discussion on the Seven Samurai talk page if you want to respond. --duncan 16:53, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

I can't speak to the first source you cited, but the second source DOES NOT link M.A.S.K. and Studio Junio. No one's questioning the fact that the show was produced overseas, just by who. JPG-GR 17:23, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RATM
The main reason I removed your edit is that I can't stand Wikipedia arguing with itself--if you think RATM's combination of rap and metal is not notable, take it out rather than adding a phrase that suggests that the phrase before is wrong. Nareek 21:15, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
- I see about "I can't stand Wikipedia arguing with itself". Paris By Night 11:42, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
When I looked at the rapcore article, it listed Faith No More along with half a dozen other bands that had mixed rap and metal before what the article seemed to feel was the birth of rapcore itself. Maybe there's a better way to describe this, but I don't think your edit was it. Nareek 21:15, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
- It's just because the article is wrong that's what I tried to explain you. FNM is the last band listed while it was among the first one to do rap-metal, and the reason is other bands were older than FNM but they did a different genre of music than rap-metal, actually FNM came in 1985 but did rap-metal since its beginning (before Patton joined) unlike earlier bands, I've quoted on your talk page. Other reason is FNM are underrated, they always were. Paris By Night 11:42, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
Not to get off on a side argument, but "Walk This Way" seems like a pretty important moment for the combination of rap and metal. It's not like RUN-DMC just happened to be in a studio where Aerosmith was playing; somebody--and I'm guessing it was RUN-DMC--had the idea that these were two great tastes that would taste great together. Nareek 21:15, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
- Date verification is needed for "Walk This Way". However I don't think a single hit alone is that important. Paris By Night 11:42, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
- Done. "Walk This Way" rap-rock version is actually posterior to FNM's "We Care A Lot"! WTW w/Run DMC was recorded in 1986 while FNM's debut album was released in 1985, which makes FNM pioneer before Aerosmith/Run-DMC. The reason for FNM to be disregarded in the rapcore article is the band is just overlooked in the US & UK (which were probably focused on lyrics, instead of music, unlike other, non English-speaking, countries?!). Paris By Night 12:31, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
- Beastie Boys' Rap-Rock debut album was 1986 "Licensed to Ill" too (before they did hardcore punk), which makes them 2nd to FNM too. Paris By Night 12:31, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:LastbattA.png
Thanks for uploading Image:LastbattA.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. [edit] Mers el-Kébir et Vichy
Bonjour,
Merci! PpPachy 06:52, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Frangleterre, Englance
You may be right that the Hundred Years' War is relevant to the Scots-French alliance, but unfortunately the article Hundred Years' War itself is not very helpful in that regard, as Scotland is very infrequently mentioned, and only once in relation to France -- in a sentence that points to Auld Alliance. Whereas its relevance to Anglo-French relations is specifically that the English king claimed to be also king of France, and for a brief period nearly succeeded in making the claim good, thus creating a kind of Anglo-French union, though obviously not one based on alliance and cooperation. [edit] Paris and Indochina
Hello Paris by Night, I have some remarks on two of your edits.
1. You moved Liberation of Paris to Battle for Paris, which I think is wrong because the most common name for the event is the Liberation of Paris and the most common name should almost always be used. For example Glorious First of June is named just that not Third Battle of Ushant because the previous is the most common name.
- you're right about the most common name, i replaced the article title per the infobox title. the infobox is about a battle not a "liberation", if you get what i mean. there was battle for paris in the infobox already so i renamed the whole article "battle for paris", what's wrong? do you think it is better to have two titles in the same article? Paris By Night 16:22, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- by the way since it was only a matter of title used one or two times i renamed the article "liberation of paris" as you have suggested. Paris By Night 16:53, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
2. You have added Nguyen Van Hinh to the commanders section of the Infobox and I am not sure that is corrected. My understanding was that the French commander-in-chief in the Far East had operational control over the Vietnamese National Army. So while Van Hinh adminstrated the army, the French commanders commanded it, altought I might be wrong as I am not expert on the relationship between the French c-in-c and the national armies of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. Carl Logan 15:39, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- I've mentioned van hinh in a different part, because the VNA is not part of the expeditionary forces. there is the part for the far east corps and the part for the VNA. just the same way you have the name of the commanders by countries in world war II (british etc), or the vietnam war (ARVN, etc) while the supreme commander was american. the same way during the 1918 campaign in world war I philippe pétain was supreme commander of the allies. i find suspect that it hurts you when it is about the french and not when it is about the americans... Paris By Night 16:22, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- Yes I agree, but only for field commanders, the one who administrate the army should not be included in commanders section. Did Van Hinh command the VNA or was it commanded by the French c-in-c? if the answer is yes than he should be included among the commander, if it is no than he should not, in my opinion. Another point Foch was supreme allied commander, not Petain, he was only Commander-in-chief of the French Army. Carl Logan 16:58, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- as far as i know van hinh commanded his army and had allegiance to bao dai. the VNA raised the state of vietnam flag not the french union one (france). van hinh is commander of the VNA not the french. bout' WWI yes yes Foch i mean. of course. Paris By Night 17:03, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Shutokou_battle_ten.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Shutokou_battle_ten.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Image:InbedwithUnee.png
I have tagged Image:InbedwithUnee.png as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add {{not orphan}} to the image description page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again. [edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Fs_3597-slingbloodbig.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Fs_3597-slingbloodbig.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 18:51, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Sassi operation condor column.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Sassi operation condor column.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:27, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:BinaryCacheServlet.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. [edit] Speedy deletion of Template:VNA
A tag has been placed on Template:VNA requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.
If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Magnificent-bastards-faith-no-more.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Magnificent-bastards-faith-no-more.png.
If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 13:21, 1 April 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 13:21, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
