I'm a South African who has been mostly anonymously editing Wikipedia since 2004, but I created this account because of restrictions on the creation of new articles by anonymous users, and will probably be doing more editing from this account.
[edit] Reliability
While Wikipedia is a fantastic resource, and usually my first source of information about unfamiliar topics, I am beginning to wonder if the average web user fully comprehends that the information here is often unreliable.
Also, as Wikipedia gets to be regarded as more authoritative (and its articles climb the search engine rankings), it could become a tempting target for organised corporate [1], government and political propagandists, who could easily subvert Wikipedia. If paid, professional, editors start working on Wikipedia, I doubt that the rest of us will stand a chance.
I think that the tagline for Wikipedia articles should be (and if I recall correctly for a short while was) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit, or, if that leads to vandalism, then the disclaimers should be made more prominent.
