Asghar-ul-murtaza Paracha (born January 9, 1977, in Karachi), is a controversial Pakistani cultural critic, satirist and short story writer. He also writes as Asghar Paracha.
His father, Waheed ud din Paracha, was a Socialist journalist and Accountant hailing from the Sargodha district (Shahpur) in the west of the Punjab and a staunch supporter of the Pakistan tehfeez ul quran.
Asghar-ul-murtaza Paracha received his early education at Zeeshan Academy in pakistan from 1990 till 1994. His father was based as an Accountant in hebib juit mills at JauharAbad District Khushab.
Asghar-ul-murtaza Paracha returned to Karachi in 1996 and joined the Saint Patrick Grammar School from where he completed his O Levels in 1999. He then joined Saint Patricks Government College in 2000 from where he did his Bachelors degree in 2004. It was here that he actively joined student politics,
After leaving college, Paracha traveled to Punjab for many months. He returned to karachi and joined the University of Karachi as a Masters student of Political Science in 2005. He vigorously resumed his political activities. He also started writing a column on campus politics for the Star.
Now Asghar-ul-murtaza Paracha is writing as freelancer for many news magzines and news papers.
