Here is the text from the Italian version:

Noto già in un documento del 937 secolo come Palode, relativo alla sua vendita assieme ad altri territori al prete Roprando, da parte del marchese Ildeprando (vendita fittizia orchestrata dalla moglie del marchese allo scopo di impedire che tali territori passassero in eredità ai parenti di lui). Giunto in possesso ai marchesi di Gavi, fu da questi assegnato al monastero di Castiglione. Fortificato intorno al 1128 (castrum palodii), fu venduto a Genova, dopo la liberazione del marchese Alberto di Parodi, grazie all'intervento dei Genovesi, tenuto prigioniero dai signori di Castelletto. Da questo momento seguì le sorti della Repubblica di Genova. Nel 1945 fu oggetto di una rappresaglia nazifascista, a causa degli attacchi partigiani nella zona, con l'incendio di numerose case e del municipio.
