[edit] Signator of Petition #05-02, a public referndum on the definition of marriage being one man and one woman?

I wonder if you know whether the information on the website of know they Neighbor (knowtheyneighbor.org) that showing Gordon Hugenberger with a 3 Park Street address as having signed the Petition #05-02, the Constitutional Amendment to Define Marriage, reads as follows:

"When recognizing marriages entered into after the adoption of this amendment by the people, the Commonwealth and its political subdivisions shall define marriage only as the union of one man and one woman."

is accurate? Know They Neighbor's claim is that the information originates with the Secretary of the Commonwealth's Elections Division.

Given Hugenberger's views on marriage, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if it were accurate, but that doesn't make that site a reliable source on the matter. --Flex 13:44, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Category:Ex-gay movement

I question the accuracy of Category:Ex-gay movement. According to their website, PSC (with which I am not affiliated in any way) has a weekly support group called Alive in Christ that is associated with Exodus Int'l, but I would argue that that does not thereby make them part of the ex-gay movement. If it does, then we'll need to add a lot more churches to the category, or better, to Category:Ex-gay organizations, or perhaps better still to a new sub-cat Category:Ex-gay movement supporters. --Flex (talk|contribs) 19:31, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

By putting them into the Category:Ex-gay movement category, I didn't mean to imply that that was their main purpose. However, they are a part of the movement because they host Alive in Christ, which is an ex-gay organization. This is more than most Christian churches which may only agree with ex-gays without specifically supporting them by hosting an ex-gay organization inside their church. I agree that they would probably be better placed in a new sub-cat called Category:Ex-gay movement supporters, but I think Category:Ex-gay organizations would imply that was their main purpose, where simply Category:Ex-gay movement only means that they are involved in the movement.Joshuajohanson 21:09, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Hosting a support groups does not seem to me to be a direct enough connection, and I think that tagging the church with that category gives undue weight to something that is a relatively minor focus for them. If a consensus thinks they should be categorized this way, we'll end up also categorizing most of evangelicalism, Catholicism, and Orthodoxy as such, which isn't particularly helpful IMO. BTW, I saw that you added some other people to the ex-gay cat. Folks like Spitzer and Ellis more properly belong in the ex-gay people cat, don't they? --Flex (talk|contribs) 00:53, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
This seems to be more of a discussion about what the Category:Ex-gay movement means. I am starting a discussion at Category_talk:Ex-gay_movement#Sub-topics. Joshuajohanson 22:58, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
