Talk:Parish (Band)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'm really sick of this page always getting deleted... okay, so you want "noteriety"... could not an American band recording for and releasing an album on Japanese *and* an American record label simultaneously not constitute "noteriety"? A band whose founding members were also members of an internationally known act, Crimson Glory for ten years, and are now members of said band once more since 1999 (Ben Jackson) and 2003 (Dana Burnell)? A band themselves who have been together, in one form or another, for 26 years?
Here's a crazy concept... instead of just killing like 60 minutes of someone's work, explain what it is that needs to be changed in order to make the article acceptable and allowed. 6wolf2112 (talk) 20:09, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- Please see WP:BAND and WP:MUSIC for the minimum requirements. Also, you can ask an admin to provide a copy of the deleted article (see Category:Administrators who will provide copies of deleted articles) so you don't lose all of your work. I sympathise (as an uninvolved editor), but unless the band is notable, then it can't be included. The links will explain further. Thanks, PeterSymonds | talk 20:14, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
True, but the person who deleted it just stated on another article of mine that "album releases would be an assertion of notability". 6wolf2112 (talk) 20:17, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, usually, but not necessarily. It has to be a chartered hit, rather than just an album. If you can prove that it satisfies any of these necessities then the article is eligible. PeterSymonds | talk 20:24, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for the advice... Okay, I've read the necessities listing and believe the band meets two of them... #5 and #6.
5) Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels... Alfa/Brunette is (was) a major indie label in Japan in the '80's and '90's and had some bigger named American metal bands on its roster, including Obsession.
and if that's not enough...
6) Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable... Ben Jackson and Dana Burnell were in Crimson Glory for ten years prior to forming Parish, and they both rejoined the band in 1999 and 2005 respectively. Crimson Glory, along with Queensryche, were one of the founding fathers of the Progressive Metal movement in the early 1980's and, even today, are a huge influence on that genre of music. I believe these should meet the requisite qualifications, do they not? 6wolf2112 (talk) 02:42, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
- Then 6 is why this should be kept, and I've voted keep at the AFD. Thanks, PeterSymonds | talk 05:46, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
