Talk:Parasitic gap
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The first sentence could be better. I'm not sure what a parasitic gap is exactly so can't change it. dpen2000 10:46, 30 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- How about: `A parasitic gap is a gap that is dependent on another gap' as a first sentence? It's a paraphrase from Elisabet Engdahl's article `Parasitic Gaps' Linguistics and Philosophy 6, 1983 5-34. Seems a fairly straightforward bit to include. Googlefish 00:39, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Does anyone have a source for Nissenbaum being Chomsky's student?
- I did some looking around and found this link: http://dspace.mit.edu/bitstream/1721.1/8842/1/48567805.pdf . It's a pdf of Nissenbaum's thesis. The supervisors are N. Chomsky and D. Pesetsky. This may indicate that Nissenbaum was indeed a student of Chomsky, though I'm not sure if this source is acceptable. Googlefish 01:02, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
