[edit] To do

  1. Find out when the Federación Paraguaya de Ajedrez took over the national championship from The Paraguayan Chess Circle. I don't read Spanish, but in a brief look at http://www.winner.com.py/feparaj/ I didn't see any obvious links to a history that might give the year of founding of the Federación.
  2. Resolve a discrepancy in tournament frequency: Sunnucks writes that the tournament was initially biennial but was later held annually. Our article indicates an annual championship from the beginning, but the large number of early winners who held the title for exactly two years is suspicious.
  3. Resolve a possible discrepancy in tournament winners. Unfortunately Sunnucks doesn't give the years, but her list of winners before 1970 is
    1. Dr Juan Silvano Diaz Perez
    2. Dr Ernesto Espinola
    3. Carlos Almeida
    4. Faustino Paniagua
    5. Dr Eduardo Salomon
    6. Ronald Cantero
    7. Eleuterio Recald
    8. Benigno Rivarola
    9. Victorio Riego
    10. Raúl Silva
    11. Dr Emiliano Saguier
Boettner (1946) and Prieto (1963) do not appear in Sunnucks' list, although it must be kept in mind that this book contains many errors and typos. Quale (talk) 17:17, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
