[edit] Improvements

Anyone object to me making some changes to match the other articles on musicals? A few new sections, (Productions, Recordings, any more?), expand the plot into two acts and generally make a start on turning this into a real article. Comments, ideas, recipes? Docta247 08:05, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

The section "History" reads like Original Research--it realy needs to be referenced. I won't tag it with the dreaded "Original Research" or "needs references" or anything else, but it could easily be objected to.JeanColumbia 14:50, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

I believe a lot of this section to be unnecessary and also that it doesn't really reflect the "history" of this musical. However I don't want to act unilaterally and remove content that people have taken time over. Perhaps a prune is in order. Docta247 15:07, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, Jean. That's much better! - Ssilvers 18:28, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Removed response to Edinburgh Fringe show

I have removed the line regarding "standing ovations" and such at the 2005 Edinburgh Fringe production. This isn't an article about that production, and I have done some searching around and haven't found any similar statement about a major production of a musical, let alone a short-run fringe production. Docta247 10:22, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

I agree that such language is unencyclopedic. There would be nothing wrong with quoting a published review, but to simply state that a show was a sell out, or received standing ovations is not appropriate. I also doubt that we need to say who music directed and conducted a production, unless the person was particularly notable. We usually only note directors and, in a dancing show, choreographers. Same for designers: unless the designers are famous, or the show won a design award, we usually don't mention them. Best regards, -- Ssilvers 13:51, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Assessment

Good job, everyone. I upgraded the assessment to B. -- Ssilvers 17:13, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

I think this is a brilliant improvement. A good day's work! Docta247 17:14, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] "Emotional backbone"

Can anyone find a reference for the discussion of the songs? If not, I think some of the references have a discussion of the emotional impact of the show in general that can be quoted or noted with a reference? Or, perhaps, some discussion of what reviews say? -- Ssilvers 17:24, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Super, Jean!! -- Ssilvers 18:23, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability of productions

Ssilvers, you raised the point about whether the productions listed are the most important. The Irish one appears to be an amateur drama group, and the showing at the Edinburgh festival, despite being the UK premiere, isn't of particular note. I'm not convinced they should even be there. I have no comment on the Australian production though as there isn't enough info really. I definitely think the UK Donmar production should stay as that's a fairly big deal. Docta247 18:39, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Good thoughts. I'd say that after the Donmar production opens, we should delete the reference to the Edinburgh Fringe production. If we can verify that the Irish production was just one of the many amateur productions, I would suggest deleting it. I bet there have been other foreign professional productions that we should add, but don't have time to weed through the references. If you can get to it, be my guest, but I've to to get back to work. Best regards, and thanks for all the good contributions! -- Ssilvers 21:29, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Paradesoundtrack.jpg

Image:Paradesoundtrack.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
