Party Hard is the first single released by Andrew W.K. in 2001. It contains 2 previously released tracks, one previously unreleased track (Violent Life), and the video for Party Hard.
There was a promo single for this song released to radio stations and the like. The promo single had the title song, the video for the song, and a track titled "Andrew W.K.".
This debut single began to receive substantial airplay on MTV 2 starting in the summer of 2002. This video airplay directly contributed to making Andrew W.K. a mainstream name that year. However, a sharp backlash occurred against the popularity of "Party Hard." While some hailed Andrew W.K. as the early 2000s "saviour of rock," others passionately excoriated the author and his song for their perceived facile and superficial lyrics that glorified "getting wasted" at the cost of artistic and intellectual integrity[citation needed].
