particleIllusion (pIllusion for short) is a stand-alone computer graphics application which allows users to create animated graphic bases on the particle system technique. Like other particle-based software/plugin in the CG market, pIllusion also claims to be able to do varied phenomena like fire, explosions, smoke, fireworks, etc with ease. The predecessor of pIllusion is Illusion 2 (1999~2001) which was belonging to Impulse Inc. The chief programmer, Alan Lorence was in disagreement with Impulse Inc and formed another company named Wondertouch. The upgraded version of Illusion was rebranded and released as particleIllusion 3.0, which featured new particle functions.

[edit] Overview

The programme works solely in two dimensional space, but the randomness of particle motion may provide a virtually three dimensional illusion. pIllusion supports OpenGL to accelerate the rendering speed which allows an accurate real-time preview with proper video display card.
