[edit] Parsons Paris School of Art and Design

(aka Parsons Paris) is four year college offering programs that lead to Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees. While the legal structure of the school is that of an independent non-profit organization (AFAD), the academic program of Parsons Paris is coordinated with that of Parsons The New School for Design in New York. Parsons Paris School of Art & Design is accredited, since 2007, by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). [1].

The Parsons School of Design first Paris program was established in 1921 by Frank Alvah Parsons, then director of the New York School for Applied and Fine Art. This program was known as Paris Ateliers and existed until the beginning of WWII. In the 1970s Parsons The New School for Design [2] set up a new program, which became known as Parsons Paris. Parsons established the school to provide American education to undergraduates in fine arts and design wishing to pursue their education in Europe.

Today, Parsons Paris draws students from around the world. The cultural diversity this engenders complements the program and fosters a critical sensitivity toward the globalization of visual culture and its impact on respective art and design fields. Parsons Paris' multicultural environment nurtures artistic practice as well as individual growth.

[edit] Parsons Table

The Parsons table is a small, square table made in a simple, unadorned style with four, flush, square legs that are equal in thickness to the top. It may reflect the influence of Mies van der Rohe and the school of Modernism. Tables of this style have been widely copied and are manufactured in a broad range of quality and finishes.

Parsons tables are often intended for use as modern or contemporary furniture, and their striking design has made them popular as coffee tables, dining tables, side tables, and occasional tables.
