Parnasree Pally

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Parnasree Pally is a locality near Behala in southern Kolkata, India. It was included in the Calcutta Municipal Corporation only in 1985. Translated to English the name means "beauty of the leaves". While it has lost most of its greenery owing to rapid real estate development, the name endures.

Parnasree Pally can be accessed from Taratala More by taking the Budge Budge Road and also from the road opposite Behala Thana. It is connected to Howrah Station, Sealdah Station and Salt Lake by bus. It is very near to the Brace Bridge Railway Station in the Sealdah South section. This locality has its own post office (Kolkata -700060), as well as a school (Parnasree Vidyamandir H. S. School), a college (Behala College), a hospital (Vivekanada Hospital) and an airport (Behala Flying Club). Parnasree Pally is situated very close to the Behala Flying Club, which is to be converted to an airport to serve as an air traffic hub for Bengal and for other regional traffic.

Recently, The Behala Flying Club has been provided with a new lease of life by the Hon'ble Union Minister For Civil Aviation, Mr. Praful Patel, by announcing a modernisation and upgradation of the Airport complex.
