Parkside School
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Parkside School is an English preparatory school located in Stoke D'Abernon, just outside Cobham in Surrey. It was founded in 1879 with just four boys. Today, the school has over 400 pupils (320 boys aged from 4–13 years, as well as approximately 80 children registered in the co-educational nursery). The school is situated in over 40 acres of formal gardens, playing fields and many other areas of natural beauty. The River Mole runs through the grounds and is a valuable resource for project work, fishing and kayaking.
The grade II listed manor house accommodates the pre-prep and the administrative offices as well as the dining room and a beautiful salon with minstrel's gallery which is used for assemblies and other functions. In addition, the fully refurbished grade II listed tithe barn accommodates the nursery, Merrileas, together with a well equipped design technology workshop and new information and communication technology suite. There is a purpose-built sports hall with a large indoor swimming pool, science building with library and, more recently, a new twelve-classroom block has been built. The school is looking forward to celebrating its 130th anniversary in 2009.
