Parkdale is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is in the Local Government Area of the City of Kingston and has a population of a little over 10,000 people. Parkdale has two post codes: 3195 and 3194.
Parkdale was founded in 1920, and named for early homesteader William Parker when engineers decided to build a railway station alongside a cluster of five bayside shops 23km south of Melbourne.

In 1958 Parkdale was chosen as the site of one of Victoria’s first drive-in shopping centres; Thrift Park. Thrift Park is being rebuilt in 2009.
