Parkay
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Parkay is a butter-substitute made by ConAgra Foods. It is available in spreadable, sprayable and squeezeable forms. Starting in 1973, a commercial was made for Parkay called "the talking tub", in which the tub first says "butter" when someone nearby says "Parkay", then says "Parkay" once someone says "butter". In 1999 an ad for Parkay used Al Franken and the talking tub using the Potato Taste Test dealing about Parkay's new formula, saying it was creamier than before. The "Talking Tub", originally used in stop motion, was later used in CGI.
Prior to 1999, this brand was made by Kraft Foods.
The product receives a mention on Lil' Wayne's verse on the Brisco single "In The Hood".
