Parkala is a small town near Manipal in Udupi district of Karnataka, India.

The area is dotted with paddy fields and forests. A calm and quiet place for people who want to get away from the busy streets of Manipal/Udupi.

It is approximately 7 kilometres from Udupi enroute to Agumbe/Karkala . It has a very pleasant climate, There is a Primary School & High School in parkala. The famous Nethaji Sports Club(R.) was founded in 1975 at Parkala.

Late Parkala Gururaja Achrya was village Panchayat President of Herga and Parkala village for 20 years and has improved roads and provided drinking water supply in early seventies. He has also built(?) a big Lord Mahalingeshwara and Mahaganapathi temple at Parkala. Now Srinivasa Upadhya Son of Late Parkala Gururaja Achrya is the Adalitha Moktheshwar (Head) of this temple. The yearly festival of this temple is on "Holi Hunnime" day.
