[edit] History

Pare Gabia is one of the world's oldest espadrille designers. The word "pare gabia" is a Basque word meaning matchless. For 70 years the company Pare Gabia have been based in Sainte Marie de Gosse in the south of France, the home of espadrilles. Each shoe is hand sewn to join the canvas to the imported jute sole from Bangladesh and it is this experienced workmanship that gives this brand its durability. In recent years the designers at Pare Gabia have concentrated on radical re-designs of the classic espadrille style, incorporating wedged heels and ballet style uppers.
