Parasuco
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Parasuco is a Canadian clothing company, best known for its denim jeans. Based in Montreal, the company is famous for its provocative advertising that appear on billboards, bus shelters, and in magazines. The company is best known for its denim clothing, but also makes shirts, casual pants, dresses, and sweaters. The main Parasuco line is DENIM LEGEND; others include "Mademoiselle", "People for Peace", and "CULT".
The company's flagship store is in Montreal, and it has locations in several other cities in Quebec and Ontario. It opened its first United States store in New York City, followed by a second in San Francisco in 2006. Parasuco also sells its clothing through other retailers worldwide.
The company was founded by its namesake Salvatore Parasuco in 1975 as Santana Jeans. Son of Italian immigrants (and an immigrant himself), he opened his first store at the age of nineteen. The company changed its name to Parasuco in 1988 in order to enter the United States market, because the trademark Santana was already registered in the US by another company.
