Paraphrenia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paraphrenia is a particularly paranoid form of schizophrenia occurring in the elderly as opposed to adolescents. It is thought to be caused by abnormalities in the tau protein, which is also linked to some cases of Alzheimers disease.

These abnormalities can occur when the protein becomes hyperphosphorylated. (It has not been shown that the phosphoric acid prevalent in sodas can contribute to this.)
