Paranda is a city and a municipal council in Osmanabad district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

As of 2001 India census[1], Paranda had a population of 16,987. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Paranda has an average literacy rate of 64%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 72%, and female literacy is 57%. In Paranda, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The city is located around the historical fort. River Seena flows from the taluka area which gives fine quality of sand. The city was the capital for near about 4000 villages in the past and named as "Prakandpur" at that time. The municipal council of this city is fouded in the year 1941. This is oldest municipal council in the Osmanabad district. there are total 97 villages in the Paranda taluka. The lagislative assembly seat no. is 208(Paranda) and parliament seat no. is 236. There is an ancient historical FORTE in Paranda town. Paranda has great historical background. Paranda is also known as a Taluka of Temples and Mosques
