[edit] Football

For years now, Paragould High and their cross-town rival, Greene County Tech, have competed with each other in nearly every sport. The most widely known is the yearly Paragould-Tech football games which occur twice each school year. The first game, usually played the second Friday after school starts, helps both teams get a feel for the outcome of the second game so they know if they need improvement and how much. The second game, also known as the 'Bell Game', is the last conference game of the season. The winner of this game receives bragging rights and possession of the bell for the next year--an actual bell in an enclosed case with small engraving plates on the wood frame that tells the year in which it was won and by which school. In the '06-'07 school year, Paragould lost the bell to Tech on their own field, but on August 31st, the first Paragould-Tech game of the new season was played at Paragould. The game ended with Paragould at 49 and Tech with 19. The finale also ended in a PHS victory. The Rams bullied past the eagles by a score of 47-24. Paragould has won this trophy 8 times since its introduction in 1999.
