[edit] History

Parachute Band is the worship ministry of Parachute Music. Parachute Music is a charitable trust working in the New Zealand music industry, dedicated to cultivating music that connects people with Jesus. Parachute Music was founded in 1989 by Mark & Chris de Jong and it has grown into a large ministry organisation. Parachute Music has a number of different arms, one of the most well known being the Parachute Festival, an annual summer festival held on a campsite south of Auckland, NZ. The festival attracts around 25,000+ people annually. The Parachute Band was formed in 1995 to lead worship at the festival and has since grown into a full time ministry. The mission of Parachute Band is to collect and record New Zealand written contemporary worship music, and take those songs to the rest of the world, leading people of all generations and cultures in worship.

In 2006, a complete generational shift took place, where the original band members handed over the mission and mantle to a completely new generation. Five young musicians were passed the Parachute Band mantle and an exciting synergy quickly formed. All committed to their local churches and to honouring God in their lives and music, these boys are the new face of the Parachute Band.
